NC has a population of 53,964 (Census
2006 est.) and 505.03 square miles of
romantically rural territory in Eastern NC. From
the brick paved sidewalks in Tarboro's Downtown
Historic District to the white sands of the NC

original settlers living here - the
Tuscarora Indians.

was officially formed in 1741. Edgecombe County
is home to NC's second oldest textile mill. The
Town of Tarboro was established in 1760 and
became the county seat in 1764.
