Robeson County,
North Carolina is located approximately 1.5
hours from NC's renowned beaches in the south
central portion of the state and shares its
southern border with South Carolina. Robeson
County, NC has a population of 129,021,
according to the
US Census Bureau’s 2006 estimate.
Incorporated in 1787, Robeson was named for Col.
Thomas Robeson of the Revolutionary War.

seat is
Lumberton, and there are 29 townships in its
borders.
Robeson County, NC has the distinction of
being the largest of the 100 North Carolina
counties. Robeson is also home to the largest
Native American population in the state of North
Carolina and many others at 37.9%. Robeson's
948.84 square miles are mainly characterized by
the large number of
swamps that run a northwest-to-southeast
course and eventually drain into the
Lumbee or Lumber River.
