Attorney John Orcutt here. This book was written by my son, experienced bankruptcy attorney and credit score expert Shawn C. Orcutt.
This book breaks down information about "credit scores" into easy-to-understand chunks. It then walks you through the simple, but important, steps you need to take to re-build your credit score after filing bankruptcy.
The truth: Filing bankruptcy isn't what kills your credit score. Think about it. In a very real sense, debt is the enemy, not bankrutpcy. If you have more debt than you can pay, your late payments on those debts is what kills your credit score. Filing bankruptcy is, so to speak, what finally stops the killing.
Bankruptcy is the first step in re-building your credit score. Why? Because, hopefully, it gives you back the ability to pay the rest of your bills "on-time". Here's how. Bankruptcy gets rid of debt. Get rid of enough debt and, hopefully, you can get back to paying the rest of your bills "on-time". Paying your bills "on-time" is the key to a higher credit score. Whether you realize it or not, it accounts for about 35% of what is taken into account in computing your credit score.
In a very real and practical sense, bankruptcy is what "kickstarts" your credit score to a higher level.
If you are ready to read this book, congratulations! That means you have already taken the necessary first step. You have filed bankruptcy and you have received that all important bankruptcy "discharge".
Now, it's time to find pull back the curtain and what this "credit score" is all about, along with what you can do to re-build yours. This is not rocket science. It just takes curiosity, focus and some discipline. You can do this. And even if you end up hiring a reputable "credit repair" company to help you, it only makes sense for you to learn how things work.
My suggestion: Have fun in the process, and to keep it fun, treat it as a game to learn and master. Like any game, you first have to learn the rules. But, unlike a game, the life-changing results can be amazing.
This book is the proof that you can, as quickly as 12 to 24 months after filing bankruptyc, re-build your credit score to 720 or even higher. Hopefully, everything you need to know it right here in this FREE book.
